The birdroom from afar, showing the mishmash of aviary, flight, and cages where the birds live. The fountain is turned
on periodically to increase the humidity, which the birds and plants seem to enjoy.

Another shot of the aviary when it had been in use for only a couple of weeks. The aviary stands 6' tall by 8'
long by 2 1/2' wide. The are two 4' doors on each side. It was constructed primarily from pine, stained, and then sealed.
Two 3x4' acrylic panes were placed in the front to minimize the amount of seed hulls coming out. The doors and top three feet
of the front are covered with black plastic hardware cloth. I have found this to be an attractive alternative to cage wire,
that is easy to clean and provides excellent visibilty.

Looking up at the aviary. Two four foot light fixtures have been installed above the egg crate, each containing two full
spectrum bulbs. The lighting has been set on a timer that allows fourteen hours of light each day. The ficus tree inside the
aviary has done well so far, I thought that the gouldians would tear it apart, but for the most part they have left it alone.

A photograph of the sun room before the aviary was completed. Slowly but surely the entire room has been taken over by
birds...
